The 1st Pick in the Draft is…Jay Cutler? Detroit Lions Need Cutler
As a Detroit Lions fan I am desperately crossing my fingers that they will trade the first overall pick for Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler, a Pro Bowl quarterback, is miles ahead of Stafford and Sanchez, and is ready to start for Detroit now. The Lions could avoid contract negotiation issues with the 1st overall pick, and avoid sinking $60-70 million on a quarterback who has never taken a snap in the NFL. No matter what you think of his attitude, Cutler is a game changer and worthy of using a top draft pick on.
The best possible use of the number 1 overall pick would be as trade bait to Denver in exchange for Cutler. The Lions are in desperate need of solid players and cannot by any means gamble $50 million on an unproven rookie. Chances are Denver will want a quarterback out of any deal, so a three team deal would be likely, possibly with Cleveland.
